In September 2006 after having
successfully competed in the National Pan-Hellenic Exams at the end of the last
year of Lyceum, I have entered in the National Technical University of Athens
(NTUA), in the department of Mining and
Metallurgy Engineering.

The duration of my studies is 5
years. The 4 years of studies are equivalent to the other European and
International diploma of engineering, while the 5^th year is
recognized as a master. During the first semesters -1 to 7- I took general classes
concerning the academic formation of an engineer: Mathematics, Physics,
Geology, Computer programming, Technical mechanics, Exploitation of mines, Transport
phenomena, Physical metallurgy, Extractive metallurgy, Excavation engineering,
Environmental engineering and others (see the List of Academic Course Studied).

During the 7^th semester
(July 2009) I have visited a number of technical companies (-PUBLIC POWER CORPORATION S.A., Ptolemaida,
-LARCO METALLURGICAL COMPANY, Evvoia, -S&B INDUSTRIAL MINERALS S.A.,
Parnassus, -TITAN CEMENT, Elefsina, -HALYVOURGIKI, Volos, -HELLENIC
HALYVOURGIA, Aspropyrgos)
and observed the techniques and the applying work-plan, in the frames of the course
Field Practice I.

Moreover, during the 9^th
semester of my studies i have entered the group of J&P AVAX technical
company as an intern for the course Field Practice II. The internship took
place in the Tunneling Construction of
the South Greek National Highway EKPPT (Elefsina-Korinthos-Patra-Pyrgos-Tsakona).

In the 8^th
and the 9^th semester of my University studies I have chosen the
specialization of geotechnical engineering. The classes of the geotechnical
specialization that I have chosen to attend are: Rock mechanics, Soil mechanics, Environmental
mining, Cement and Concrete production technology, Underground engineering, Tunneling, Support of
underground excavations and others.

I
currently have been working on my Diploma Thesis under the supervision of
professor dr. A. Bernados, in the 10^th semester of my studies. The
title of my Diploma Thesis is: “Analysis of pillars in underground excavation
using finite elements and 3D analysis”. In this project i am analyzing the
program MIDAS GTS and provide a comparison of the functions and the utility of
the 2D program (PHASE²). My goal is to reach the conclusion that
MIDAS GTS is a program that surpasses the PHASE². The Diploma Thesis
is going to be presented in early July 2011. Hopefully, after my presentation I
will be the proud owner of the Engineering Diploma of the NTUA department of Mining and Metallurgy Engineering.

In September 2011, I am looking
forward to participating in the postgraduate specialized master in the
University “École des ponts et des Chaussées” Paris, France.

This would be a great academic
experience for me to acquire the expertise knowledge of this great University
and collaborate with a group of people in an international environment.
Moreover, it would be a great opportunity to get acquainted with the French
culture and civilization. I would also be privileged to enhance my
communication and collaborative skills and interact in a foreign environment
which will be a challenge for me.

Finally, I would like to express my
desire to study and acquire working experience

abroad, especially in France, Canada
or Korea in order to gain experiences and enhance my knowledge of international
techniques and guidelines in the field of engineering.
